The Legendary Sauce Boss and the Key West Legend Bill Blue rocked the Green Parrot October 7, 2015 with spicy performance and his special hot sauce.
Bill "Sauce Boss" Wharton brings his own hot sauce to every gig, and he cooks a big pot of gumbo, while smoking his slide guitar. At the end of the Show, everyone gets a bowl. Now he's added some new flavors to the “stew”. Sauce Boss not only plays slide, sings his tamales off, makes gumbo, and feeds everybody… he also plays a drum kit with his feet. “You take that 53 Telecaster, pump it through that 48 Fender amp, add a bass rig, mix in some drums, all simmered down over some funky swamp blues, and smothered with gumbo, and you got a recipe for the largest one-man band on the planet.”

Its about all of our favorite Key West musicians.
I've interviewed 46 Key West musicians over the past year. I've consolidated some of over 2500 photos of their performances into this 104 page volume of their story. Its a work that had to be done.
There is something very special about The Soul of Key West. Something special is going on today with over 50 venues for live music on this compact tiny island. All are supported by the audience with almost no cover charges anywhere. The price a few cold drinks and one can enjoy an evening of tremendous music in our city. All you need is a pair of flip flops and a sense of adventure.
I hope you enjoy this work as much as I did creating it.
